Meringues as big as your face  Image by _Madolan_ Meiringen, Switzerland lays claim to the invention of meringue. I hear tell of an Italian town that begs to differ. Nevertheless, an awful lot of meringue vies for your attention and appetite in Meiringen. We had to bite. We dragged this chocolate-dusted sugar puff up into the Alps and took some symbolic bites before hiking back down. Though not a fan of meringue, this was fine, if you're girded for a massive confrontation with sugar. |
